Winter hiking conditions can begin as early as October and run through March. Temperatures in the canyon can get very cold with lots of snow and ice. Check the weather before you come. Dress warm with lots of layers, wear waterproof socks and shoes. Hiking poles are highly recommended. In the spring the water can get deep and swift because of the melting snow. Be prepared! Hike at your own risk! The Kiosk has limited hours during the winter. If the kiosk is closed, leave your permit information and fee in the outside drop box located to the right of the kiosk. Tickets will not be transferred or refunded because of cold temperatures. Ice cleats and hiking poles are highly recommended.
